In October of each year, in connection with National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the Brunswick Glynn County Council on Disabilities honors an exceptional local employer that has made significant impacts in our community. This year, Glynn County Schools was named the 2023 Disabilities Employer of the Year for its efforts to promote the employment and inclusion of people with disabilities.
“This is the second year in a row that our school system has received the recognition of Employer of the Year from this council,” said Michele Seals, Executive Director of Human Resources.
“It goes to show just what we do to support those who may have disabilities, encouraging them with good employment and workplace. Many of these employees were once our students, and now they’re gainfully employed with our school district.”
The Brunswick Glynn County Council on Disabilities mission is to improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities in the Glynn County area, by promoting opportunities to work and live in an environment free of barriers imposed by architecture or attitude.
The 2023 National Theme for Disability Employment Awareness Month was "Advancing Access and Equity.”
