I met my wife in college while studying elementary education. Despite her initially giving me a disconnected phone number, persistence paid off, and we just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary! She planned to teach for DoDEA overseas, and I joined her, saying anywhere but Japan. Ironically, we spent 8 years there, where our two children, Andrew (21) and Ashton (18), were born.

We then moved to Italy for another 8 years before returning to Fort Stewart, GA, to be closer to aging parents and give our kids roots. After retiring, I missed teaching and returned to the classroom. Despite vowing never to teach 1st grade again, that’s exactly what I’m doing now at Altama Elementary. God truly has a sense of humor!
