2027 Proposed Rezoning for GCSS

Proposed Rezoning for Glynn County Schools

ZONING CHANGES

A draft School Rezoning Plan was presented to the Glynn County Board of Education at the March 6, 2025, Work Session, outlining several major changes to be implemented in Fall 2027. The changes include:

    • Students living north of I-95 (Hwy. 341) will attend Brunswick High School.
    • Students living on L Street to 4th Street will attend Glynn Academy.
    • Students living west of Hwy. 341 will attend Risley Middle School.
    • Students living east of Hwy. 17 will attend Glynn Middle School.
    • Students living south of Gloucester Street will attend St. Simons Elementary School.
    • Students living east of Hwy. 17 will attend Oglethorpe Point Elementary School.

Under the proposed maps, students from five of our elementary schools will funnel into two middle schools and then into one high school. Similarly, students from the other five elementary schools will follow a pathway into the other two middle schools and then into the other high school.

These changes aim to balance school enrollments and address shifts in the school-age population in Glynn County, prioritizing geography and proximity to schools over demographics. The rezoning process included input from our eight-person committee, community members, public meetings, and expert advice.

We invite you to explore the details of our rezoning proposal and share your feedback to help us build a #strongerglynn together. You can do so by clicking the link at the top or bottom of the page.
