Glynn County Schools Celebrates Teachers and Support Professionals of the Year

The Glynn County School System hosted its annual Teacher and Support Professional of the Year Celebration yesterday evening at the Jekyll Island Convention Center, honoring educators and staff who exemplify excellence, dedication, and leadership across the district.
During the event, Mrs. Jessica Gibbs-Zettler, English II and AP Language and Composition Teacher at Brunswick High School, was named the 2025 Glynn County District Teacher of the Year!
She was selected from among five outstanding finalists, including Dr. David Lewis with Golden Isles College & Career Academy, Lakeshia Cope with Jane Macon Middle School, Michelle Young with Altama Elementary School, and Tamara Gray with Glynn Middle School.
It was a beautiful evening that truly reflected the community’s appreciation for its educators. Guests enjoyed a live performance by Brunswick High School students, and heard inspiring remarks from Superintendent Mike Blackerby and 2024 District Teacher of the Year Laura Bersticker.
The celebration was made possible by generous sponsors. The Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce and Georgia Power served as the presenting sponsors. In addition, numerous local businesses contributed donations and ensured each honoree received a gift bag filled with thoughtful items and tokens of appreciation.
As the newly named District Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Gibbs-Zettler received a bouquet of stunning roses from Mystical Gardens, a Chick-fil-A gift basket and free Chick-fil-A for a year, a $1,000 check from the presenting sponsors, and other special prizes. She will now advance to compete for Georgia Teacher of the Year.
The evening would not have been possible without the leadership and coordination of Mrs. Wanda Shue, Director of Human Resources for Glynn County Schools, whose dedication ensured the event’s success!
